Dani Herd

Ever since she saw Romeo & Juliet in the eighth grade, Dani Herd has dreamed of performing onstage at the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse. In 2007, the Tim Redovian Memorial Fund allowed her to participate in the Tavern’s Shakespeare Intensive for Teens. She spent four amazing weeks that summer at the Shakespeare Tavern, taking classes in stage combat, text, and madrigal singing. She played Hamlet that summer at SIT, and the experience forever changed her expectations of what she could accomplish onstage.

Today, Dani is proud to still be working on and offstage at the Tavern, having completed their Apprentice Company program in 2012. Favorite Tavern roles include Phebe in As You Like It, Cinna in Julius Caesar, First Witch/Lady Macduff in Macbeth, and Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She is also the host and founder of “Much Ado About Nerddom,” a geeky variety show held at the Tavern every Labor Day weekend.

In addition to her work at the Tavern, Dani can be seen around town as a comedian and writer. As a writer, she has performed onstage with Write Club Atlanta, Scene Missing Magazine, and Naked City. Her essay “full” is featured in the recently published Bare-Knuckled Lit: The Best of Write Club. As a comedian, Dani performs frequently at the Laughing Skull Lounge.
