Natalie Cook

Natalie Cook is a writer, performance artist, activist, and community organizer. She is currently an undergrad student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she is double-majoring in English with an Emphasis in Creative Writing and Afro-American Studies.

Founder and Artistic/Executive Director of her non-profit ‘Atlanta Word Works’, Natalie has read her poetry in competitions all around the United States and Internationally. As recently as 2013 she traveled to Ghana where her poetry was featured in Legon and Accra at the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre. Natalie has performed her poems while opening for musician John Legend, Congressman John Lewis, and Editor of Essence Magazine, Susan Taylor.

Having been awarded the First Wave Urban Arts Scholarship and the Gates Millennium Scholarship every year since 2011, Natalie has penned numerous plays and poems and is currently directing her play “Manikin” in Madison, Wisconsin.
