Meet Jim & Sherrill Redovian
Jim and I were married July 31, 1965, in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1977 we moved to Atlanta, GA with our 5 children—Kelly (11), Jimmy (9 ½), Lorie (8 ½), Danny (6), and Alex (2). On September 1, 1980, Tim—our little Georgia Peach—was born.
Being a mom was a full-time job! Until 1981. That was when I started watching a friend’s child in our home, since I was home with Tim anyway. Eventually, by word of mouth, I started a business, with 75 children coming through our doors over ten and a half years. I retired in mid-1991.
Good thing I retired. Tim was different! His passion was performing, and he knew instinctively there was much for him to learn if he was going to reach his goal of being on Broadway. Getting him to lessons, classes, intensives, auditions, rehearsals, performances was a full-time job for me. Teachers and directors thought it was possible, so my job was easy. Broadway!
When Tim unexpectedly passed away in 1996 from ARDS I did not want him to be forgotten. I started the Tim Redovian Memorial Fund whose mission is to provide funding for high school students to attend summer performing arts programs all over the country.
Jim took a different avenue to deal with his grief. He poured himself into the youth program at Dunwoody Baptist Church where he serves as a Deacon and still teaches high school Sunday School.
Jim ran a successful business in Georgia, fitting several different extracurricular activities into his spare time. He got involved with youth baseball at Murphey Candler Park when our two girls and two oldest boys were playing softball and baseball. He was elected president three different times at Murphey Candler Little League and then served 10 years as Little League District 9 representative.
Jim served four years on the DeKalb County School Board where he supported many improvements throughout District 1. He was responsible for getting improvements done at Dunwoody High School and was instrumental in getting a new Chamblee High School built.
Jim sat on the Board of Directors at Stage Door Players serving as treasure, and two years as President. He eventually joined the board of TRMF when some of his other responsibilities lightened up. He and I are now serving as co-chairs of TRMF.
Jim received DHS’s 2022 Mary Frazier Award for Super Volunteerism.
Thank you for your support of the Tim Redovian Memorial Fund. You help make dreams come true!
All the best,
